Zurich Crickets Cricket Club
Awards Evening for the 2011/2012 season
On Saturday 3 November 2012 at 18h00 the third Zurich Crickets CC Awards Evening took place at the Restaurant Park im Gruene in Rüschlikon. This event was very well attended by over sixty members
and an enjoyable evening was had by all.
Looking back at the 2012 season it was clear that so much was achieved with the help of so many. The coaches put in so much work week for week throughout the year with their teams, the managers
had more than ever to organise, the website had to be painstakingly rebuilt, finances managed and kept up to date, players ferried to and fro and teams fed and watered by parents.
There were many highlights involving Zurich Crickets club members, not least:
In November we put together a group of coaches and players to introduce cricket to over a hundred and fifty Swiss Olympic team members and their coaches in Magglingen.
The indoor season when so many of our teams performed particularly well, whether at the Gingins Tournament, the series of Under 15 days in Zurich, or the Zurich Under 17 tournament in March.
Much progress was made in preparation for the outdoor season which began in April.
The 3-day Hampshire camp in April with John Cook and Chris Wheeler, who now know so many our players and are looking forward to returning in January 2013.
The COOP event and ‘Cricket in the Cage’, as well as the cricket event we organised for Red Cross Zurich in May, which are so important for public relations and the spread of cricket in
Switzerland.
The Zuoz Tournament at which so many of our Under 11, Under 13, Under 15 and Under 17 players did so well.
The 19 ZCCC players who were selected for the various national teams that toured to Denmark, Cambridgeshire, Surrey and Luxembourg in 2012:
Under 17: Sinan Khan, Bruce Baumann, Joe Boucher, Callum Hirst, George Gaillet
Under 15: Paulina Kratky, Simon Henderson, Moaz Butt, James Boakes, James Gaillet
Under 13: Ruan Kruger, Anthony Palmiero, Nic Henderson, Matthew Collins,
Under 11: Luke Specogna, Dayn Pariaug, Ben Harris, Vikram Bannur, Chris Langford
The new coaches: John Millar, Leo Massey, and Joe Boucher
At the same time sadly in 2012 it was time to say farewells to Janet and Pasquale Palmiero and family, Glen Collins and family and Ray Boucher. All of them have done so much for the club and they
will be missed. We wish them the best of luck.
